An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Maintenance Engineer to join a busy manufacturing facility in Fareham. Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, you will be responsible for maintaining production equipment, maximising uptime, and supporting operational performance through a combination of planned and reactive maintenance activities.
This is a hands-on role requiring strong electrical and mechanical fault-finding skills, a proactive approach to problem-solving, and a commitment to health, safety, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
* Carry out planned preventative maintenance to maximise equipment reliability and minimise downtime.
* Respond to breakdowns, diagnose faults, and complete repairs safely and efficiently.
* Maintain accurate maintenance records using the CMMS system.
* Support continuous improvement activities to enhance equipment performance and OEE.
* Assist with machine setup, commissioning, changeovers, and production support activities.
* Ensure all work is completed in line with health, safety, environmental, and quality procedures.
* Support the development of maintenance procedures, SOPs, and risk assessments.
* Monitor spare parts usage and help maintain appropriate stock levels.
* Maintain high standards of housekeeping and workshop organisation.
* Work collaboratively with production, engineering, and planning teams to support operational objectives.
Ideal Experience & Skills
* NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in an Engineering discipline.
* Minimum 5 years’ experience in a maintenance engineering role within a manufacturing environment.
* Strong electrical and mechanical maintenance and fault-finding experience.
* Experience maintaining production machinery and equipment.
* Knowledge of preventative maintenance systems and CMMS software.
* Good understanding of health and safety requirements, including risk assessments and COSHH.
* Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.
Desirable
* Forklift, IPAF, or PASMA certification.
* Experience within a regulated manufacturing environment.
* Knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies and equipment reliability practices.
