Working with autonomous mobile robots, automated storage and retrieval systems, conveyors and sortation equipment, you'll help maximise equipment reliability while supporting the installation and launch of new automation as the site expands.
Our client is an international logistics business investing in warehouse automation and robotics. Its Coventry operation offers the opportunity to work with a broad range of automated technologies, joining an expanding Engineering team and collaborating with equipment manufacturers, specialist suppliers and commissioning engineers.
As Maintenance Engineer, you'll keep automated warehouse equipment operating safely and efficiently, combining planned maintenance with hands-on fault finding and reliability improvements.
Alongside supporting the existing operation, you'll contribute to site expansion projects, gaining exposure to the installation, testing and handover of new automation.
Key responsibilities include:
Maintaining AMRs, ASRS, robotics, conveyors and sortation systems.
Carrying out planned, preventative and reactive maintenance to maximise equipment availability.
Diagnosing and resolving electrical, mechanical and controls-related faults.
Fault finding on PLC-controlled equipment to minimise operational downtime.
Conducting root cause analysis and implementing improvements to prevent repeat failures.
Supporting suppliers and commissioning teams during equipment installation, testing and handover.
Recording maintenance activities and equipment performance accurately within maintenance management systems.
Working with Engineering and Operations colleagues to improve reliability and efficiency.
Ensuring all engineering activities follow safe working procedures and health and safety requirements.
We're looking for a multi-skilled Maintenance Engineer with strong electrical and mechanical fault-finding skills and a practical approach to keeping automated equipment running.
You'll bring:
Maintenance experience within automated warehousing, distribution, logistics, manufacturing or production.
Hands-on experience with automated material handling equipment such as AMRs, ASRS, robotics, conveyors, shuttles or sortation systems.
Knowledge of PLC-controlled equipment and confidence diagnosing automation-related faults.
An engineering qualification in Electrical, Mechanical, Controls or Multi-Skilled Engineering, or equivalent practical industry experience.
Strong problem-solving skills, including root cause analysis and reliability improvement.
The ability to work effectively with operational colleagues, contractors and specialist suppliers.
A proactive approach, an interest in automation and a strong commitment to safety.
Experience supporting equipment installation, commissioning or site launches would be particularly advantageous.
Happy to work on a 4 on, 4 off shift pattern.
