Global Highland is delighted to be recruiting on behalf of a leading manufacturing business for an experienced Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join their established engineering team in Stornoway.

The Opportunity
You'll play a vital role in ensuring production equipment operates safely, efficiently and reliably. Working alongside both the Engineering and Operations teams, you'll help minimise downtime, improve plant performance and contribute to ongoing engineering projects.
No two days are the same, making this an ideal role for someone who enjoys variety, technical challenges and making a real impact.
Key Responsibilities
Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) across production equipment.
Respond to breakdowns quickly to minimise downtime.
Diagnose and repair mechanical faults.
Replace and maintain mechanical components.
Record maintenance activities using internal systems.
Coordinate external engineering contractors when required.
Support continuous improvement and engineering projects.
Maintain spare parts and engineering records.
Work closely with production teams to maximise operational efficiency.
Ensure all work complies with Health & Safety and permit-to-work procedures.
Participate in an on-call rota and provide engineering support when required.
Attend daily operations meetings and contribute to performance improvements.
What We're Looking For
We're looking for someone who is practical, solutions-focused and enjoys working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
At least 2 years' experience within an engineering or maintenance role.
Strong mechanical fault-finding and troubleshooting skills.
Experience working within a manufacturing or production environment.
Good organisational and time management skills.
A positive, proactive attitude with a commitment to continuous improvement.
The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Competent Microsoft Office skills.
Knowledge of TS16949, ISO 14001 and IOSH/NEBOSH would be advantageous.

Working Environment
The role includes working within a manufacturing facility and requires compliance with PPE, food safety and Health & Safety standards. You'll also participate in an on-call rota, and the position may involve working at height or within confined spaces following appropriate training and safe systems of work.
