A long-established manufacturing business based in Oldbury is looking to strengthen its Maintenance team with the appointment of an experienced Maintenance Engineer.
This is a mechanically biased maintenance role, ideally suited to an engineer with a strong background in mechanical maintenance, machinery, hydraulics, pneumatics and breakdown response, alongside a good understanding of electrical systems and controls.
Working from a busy manufacturing facility, you will be responsible for keeping production equipment and machinery operating reliably through a combination of planned preventative maintenance, fault-finding and reactive breakdown support.
The Role
As a Maintenance Engineer, your responsibilities will include:
* Carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) across site machinery and equipment.
* Responding to and resolving mechanical breakdowns, minimising production downtime.
* Supporting electrical fault-finding and breakdown activities where required.
* Diagnosing faults across mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
* Reading and interpreting mechanical and electrical engineering drawings.
* Carrying out repairs, adjustments and improvements to production machinery.
* Working with PLC-controlled machinery and supporting fault diagnosis.
* Working with and around industrial robots and automated production equipment.
* Identifying recurring faults and contributing to continuous improvement and reliability initiatives.
* Ensuring all maintenance activities are completed safely and in line with company procedures.
The Person
The successful candidate will ideally have:
* A recognised engineering apprenticeship or equivalent engineering qualification.
* Strong practical mechanical maintenance experience within a manufacturing environment.
* Experience with hydraulics, pneumatics, bearings, gearboxes, drives and mechanical machinery.
* A good understanding of electrical systems and the ability to undertake basic electrical fault-finding.
* The ability to read and understand mechanical and electrical drawings.
* Some experience working with PLCs, automated machinery and robots.
* A proactive approach to preventative maintenance and machinery reliability.
* Previous experience within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
The key requirement is strong mechanical maintenance capability. The role would suit an experienced Mechanical Maintenance Engineer who is comfortable working across the wider electrical/automation side of a modern manufacturing facility.
