We are recruiting for an experienced Maintenance Manager to join a successful manufacturing operation in Durham.
This is a key leadership position responsible for managing and improving the site's engineering and maintenance function, with a focus on plant reliability, preventative maintenance, reducing downtime and improving overall equipment effectiveness.
The Role
You will lead the site's maintenance function, managing a small team and overseeing preventative and reactive maintenance, plant improvements and engineering projects. You will work closely with Operations and external contractors to ensure plant assets remain safe, reliable and efficient.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and manage the site's engineering and maintenance function.
* Manage, coach and develop three direct reports.
* Plan and coordinate daily maintenance activities.
* Promote a strong safety culture across all maintenance activities.
* Lead safety audits, investigations and near-miss reporting.
* Implement and continuously improve the site's PPM programme.
* Manage preventative and reactive maintenance requirements.
* Ensure compliance with ISO 9001, ISO 13485 and ISO 14001 standards.
* Ensure maintenance activities comply with environmental permits and legislation.
* Manage the site's CMMS to reduce unplanned downtime.
* Drive improvements in plant reliability and OEE.
* Identify and maintain appropriate levels of critical spares.
* Manage external contractors, including reviewing RAMS and issuing permits to work.
* Support plant improvement initiatives and capital projects.
* Identify new technologies and engineering solutions to improve operations.
* Use SAP to raise purchase requisitions as required.
* Ensure maintenance activities are completed safely and in line with legislation.
* Support and manage an effective on-call maintenance system.
About You
* HNC or equivalent qualification in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
* Proven experience within a plant engineering or maintenance environment.
* Demonstrable experience working as a Plant Electrician or in a strongly electrical maintenance role.
* Experience fault-finding on PLC-controlled equipment, VSDs, conveyor systems and thermal processing equipment.
* Working knowledge of PLC programming and electrical/technical drawings.
* Experience using CAD systems.
* Strong understanding of plant preventative maintenance systems.
* Practical knowledge of electrical safety requirements.
* Experience working within a GMP environment.
* Good IT skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
