We are currently recruiting on behalf of a leading housing association for an experienced Maintenance Operative to join their repairs and maintenance team on a permanent basis.
This is a varied, hands-on role combining property maintenance, minor repairs, refurbishment, construction, driving and delivery duties. The successful candidate will be responsible for completing high-quality work while providing an excellent service to residents and customers.
The Role
As a Maintenance Operative, you will carry out a range of maintenance, repair, refurbishment and delivery activities across residential properties and other locations.
Your responsibilities will include:
Carrying out minor repairs, maintenance, refurbishment and construction activities across a range of trade disciplines. Driving company vehicles safely and professionally to attend jobs and carry out deliveries. Undertaking delivery and collection duties as required. Planning and organising your daily workload to ensure work is completed efficiently and within required timescales. Attending scheduled appointments and providing a professional, customer-focused service. Carrying out inspections and pre-measuring work to identify repair requirements. Using mobile technology and IT systems to receive work instructions, update jobs, order materials and complete records. Managing materials effectively and minimising waste. Working alongside other trades, surveyors and subcontractors to ensure works are completed on time. Communicating professionally with residents and customers regarding repairs and any follow-up work required. Completing job tickets, timesheets, inspection reports and other documentation accurately. Using tools, plant and equipment relevant to the role. Working in accordance with all Health & Safety policies and procedures. Undertaking low-risk asbestos-related work where required, following appropriate training and agreed procedures. Attending team briefings, meetings and training as required.About You
We are looking for a reliable, practical and customer-focused Maintenance Operative who is comfortable working independently and as part of a wider team.
You will ideally have:
Previous experience in property maintenance, construction, repairs or social housing. Experience undertaking multi-skilled maintenance or trade-related work. Experience of driving and carrying out deliveries in a commercial environment. Excellent customer service and communication skills. Good attention to detail and pride in delivering high-quality workmanship. A good understanding of Health & Safety requirements. Good organisational and problem-solving skills. The ability to manage your own workload and work on your own initiative. The ability to complete paperwork, job tickets and timesheets accurately. The ability to meet agreed targets and deadlines. The physical ability to undertake the requirements of the role.Essential Requirements
You must:
Hold a full UK driving licence. Be confident and able to drive company vehicles as part of the role. Have previous experience within maintenance, construction, repairs or a related trade environment. Be willing to work across different locations as required. Have a strong commitment to Health & Safety and customer service.Qualifications
Relevant qualification or experience in a multi-skilled trade is desirable. CSCS card is desirable.The Opportunity
