The Role We are looking for an experienced Production Planner to join an engineering and maintenance environment. You will be responsible for taking maintenance requirements and converting them into practical production plans, ensuring work is properly organised and that the necessary people, equipment and materials are available to complete activities efficiently. The role will involve working across several engineering functions, monitoring progress and identifying potential issues before they impact delivery.
Responsibilities
Create and maintain production schedules to support planned maintenance activity. Organise maintenance requirements into clear and achievable work plans. Coordinate labour, skills, tooling, equipment and materials against upcoming work. Work closely with purchasing and stores teams to ensure required components are available. Monitor work against agreed timescales and highlight potential delays or resource constraints. Identify risks to delivery and coordinate actions to minimise disruption. Communicate regularly with engineering and planning teams to maintain alignment between planned and actual work. Maintain accurate planning information and associated records. Support improvements to production efficiency, quality and working practices. Ensure planning activities are carried out in accordance with relevant procedures, quality standards and regulatory requirements. Assist with prioritising work to maximise operational availability and maintain delivery schedules.
Skills & Experience
Essential
Previous experience within production planning, engineering planning, maintenance planning or an MRO environment. Understanding of aircraft or engineering maintenance processes. Experience coordinating manpower, materials and resources against production schedules. Familiarity with planning systems, ERP platforms or maintenance management software. Strong organisational and communication skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities and respond effectively to changing requirements. Good problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to identifying potential issues.
Desirable
Previous experience working within an aviation or aerospace environment. Knowledge of maintenance planning and airworthiness requirements. Experience within a regulated or highly controlled engineering environment. Understanding of quality and safety management systems. Experience working with recognised ISO or equivalent management standards.
