Are you the lead person in Major Applications?

Sellick Partnership are currently recruiting for an experienced Interim Major Applications Team Leader to join a busy Local Authority planning service during a period of significant development activity.

This is a key leadership role, responsible for managing a high-performing Major Applications team and ensuring the timely progression and determination of complex planning applications.

Key responsibilities of the Interim Head of Major Applications includes:

Leading a team of Senior Planning Officers and an Assistant Team Leader
Managing and supporting a team of planning professionals dealing with major planning applications
Ensuring the effective progression of applications through the planning process
Providing technical guidance and quality assurance on planning reports and recommendations
Signing off officer reports and delegated decisions where appropriate
Supporting officers in preparing and presenting applications to Planning Committee
Driving performance improvements and helping to expedite decision-making processes
Working collaboratively with senior officers, members and external stakeholders
Ensuring a high-quality and customer-focused planning service is delivered

To be considered for this opportunity Planning Opportunity, applicants should possess:

Chartered Membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI)
Extensive experience managing major planning applications within a local authority environment
Proven experience leading and developing planning teams
Significant experience presenting applications and reports to Planning Committee
Strong working knowledge of planning legislation, policy and development management processesExperience working within an authority facing significant development pressures and operating without a demonstrable five-year housing land supply would be highly advantageous.
