Job Description - Management Accountant

We’re looking for a capable and motivated Management Accountant to join a leading business in Sutton Coldfield. This is a fantastic opportunity for a part-qualified/finalist accountant or an experienced finance professional looking to take ownership of a hands-on, autonomous role.

Reporting to the Finance Director, you’ll be instrumental in ensuring the accuracy of financial reporting and driving continuous improvement across the finance function.

Key Responsibilities

Produce monthly management accounts using Xero, including journals, accruals, and prepayments
Oversee accounts payable – invoice processing, supplier communication, and payment scheduling
Manage accounts receivable
Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
Perform bank reconciliations and manage daily cash flow
Submit VAT returns and ensure compliance with HMRC requirements
Liaise with external accountants for year-end accounts and audit prep
Collaborate with property managers and external stakeholders on financial matters
Drive improvements to finance systems and internal processes

What We’re Looking For

Part-qualified/Finalist (ACCA/CIMA/AAT) or qualified by experience
Strong experience in management accounts
Confident with Xero or similar accounting software
Solid understanding of AP/AR processes
Detail-oriented with excellent organisational skills
Strong communicator with a proactive, self-sufficient approach
Comfortable managing VAT, reconciliations, and billing
