Job Description - Management Accountant

Location: London (Hybrid)
Salary: £55,000 - £65,000 per annum

We are seeking a qualified Accountant to join our dynamic finance team in a newly created role. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual looking to progress their career within a dynamic and highly profesional team in the Professional Service sector.

The successful candidate will be one of two Chartered Accountants in the team, working alongside the Finance Manager to deliver best-in-class financial services to a range of internal stakeholders. The ideal candidate will bring a strong foundation in accounting principles, along with a proactive mindset and a desire to continue developing their career in finance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare accurate and timely monthly management accounts, including profit & loss, balance sheet, and cash flow reports.
  • Compile monthly management information for shareholder meetings, working closely with the Business Director to address any queries.
  • Conduct financial data analysis to identify trends, variances, and insights to support strategic decision-making.
  • Support the Finance Manager in budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes.
  • Collaborate with department heads to provide financial support and guidance on performance.
  • Act as a key point of contact for management accounting queries, delivering clear and insightful responses.
  • Assist in preparing year-end statutory accounts in accordance with relevant accounting standards.
  • Prepare audit schedules and support statutory audits by ensuring accurate and timely submissions.
  • Contribute to statutory, SRA, and internal audits.
  • Help ensure timely submission of VAT returns, corporation tax returns, and other regulatory filings.
  • Assist with the authorisation of bank payments.
  • Support WIP and AR reviews and revenue management processes, including mid-year and year-end collection drives.
  • Collaborate on improving reporting for shareholders, particularly around WIP, AR, and time recordal.
  • Assist the Accounts team with data analysis and ad-hoc investigative tasks.
  • Continuously evaluate and enhance internal financial processes to improve efficiency, accuracy, and timeliness.

Skills and Personal Attributes:

  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills, including experience with pivot tables and data extraction.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to build relationships across the business.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Effective workload management and prioritisation skills in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proactive, self-motivated, and capable of working independently.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Professional Accounting qualification (CIMA, ACCA, or equivalent).
  • Experience in a professional services environment preferred. Candidates with experience in other highly regulated sectors such as banking or insurance will also be considered.
