An established and growing civil engineering and multi-utility company based in Warrington is looking for a commercially astute Management Accountant to support the finance function. Role Overview

This is a full-time, on-site Management Accountant position located in Warrington. The role involves financial reporting, budget management, variance analysis, and oversight of accounting processes.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly management accounts for all group entities, including variance analysis and commentary.

• Conduct project cost analysis to ensure accurate allocation and explain budget variances.

• Support the budgeting and forecasting process, collaborating with key stakeholders.

• Monitor and forecast cash flow to maintain financial stability and suggest optimisation strategies.

• Manage month-end and year-end processes to ensure accurate financial records.

• Lead cost control efforts and identify opportunities for efficiency gains.

• Prepare VAT returns for all group companies.

• Contribute to systems improvements and process automation initiatives.

• Collaborate cross-functionally with teams such as Commercial, Operations, and Procurement to enhance financial insight and support decision-making.

• Manage a small finance team, providing training, support, and performance coaching.

Requirements

• Minimum of 3 years' experience in a similar role.

• Background in the utilities sector is desirable but not essential.

• Fully/PQ or qualified by experience candidates will be considered.

• Demonstrated experience in team leadership and development.

• Strong time management skills in a high-paced, deadline-driven environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Strong grasp of financial statements and accrual accounting.

• Excellent analytical and reporting skills.

• Advanced Excel competency.
