Job Description - Management Accountant

Join a dynamic team in London as a Management Accountant, delivering top-notch outsourced accounting solutions to finance sector clients. This full-time role involves supporting FCA-regulated and financial services clients with their accounting needs. Responsibilities:

  • Manage a growing portfolio of clients within the financial services sector, ensuring all accounting work is completed accurately and in line with statutory procedures.
  • Prepare detailed management accounts and statutory financial reports, including consolidated accounts derived from both manual and computerised records.
  • Oversee the preparation and review of VAT Returns, demonstrating an understanding of partial exemption rules relevant to regulated entities.
  • Delegate tasks effectively while supervising and reviewing the work of junior team members, providing constructive feedback and nurturing their professional development.
  • Deliver general accounting services to clients by assisting with the preparation of accounts, VAT returns, and working papers for management or statutory purposes.
  • Recommend enhancements to clients' accounting systems and internal controls, offering practical support whenever required.
  • Maintain clear communication with Managers and Partners regarding job progress, promptly reporting any changes needed in assignment specifications.
  • Take ownership of assignments from inception through completion, proactively resolving issues as they arise to ensure client satisfaction.
  • Monitor project costs against budgeted figures, alerting Managers or Partners if time or budget constraints are at risk of being exceeded.
  • Support senior colleagues with client pitch documentation and participate in meetings as required.

Requirements:

  • ACCA or ACA qualification with experience in preparing statutory accounts, management accounts, and VAT returns in a professional practice environment.
  • Strong knowledge of UK GAAP, specifically FRS102, relevant to financial services clients.
  • Excellent communication skills for building rapport and explaining complex accounting concepts to clients.
  • Client-facing experience, ideally within financial services or similar regulated industries.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook); familiarity with Sage, Quickbooks, or Xero is a plus.
  • Strong organisational skills to manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines under pressure.
  • Conscientious approach and ethical judgement in handling sensitive information and making recommendations.
  • Personable and professional, valuing teamwork and committed to supporting others development.
