The Position:
The Management Accountant is responsible for providing accurate, timely and insightful financial information to support effective decision-making across Polygon. This role plays a key role in financial control, performance reporting, budgeting and forecasting, helping the business to understand performance, manage costs and drive continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial reporting
Prepare accurate and timely monthly management accounts, including profit and loss, balance sheet, cash flow reporting and associated KPIs Assist in month-end processes, ensuring journals, accruals, prepayments and balance sheet account reconciliations are completed in accordance with policies and deadlines Ensure compliance with UK accounting standards (e.g. UK GAAP or IFRS)
Cash Flow
Support cash flow forecasting and working capital management
Internal Controls, Compliance and Audit
Maintain strong financial controls and processes Ensure compliance with tax laws and regulations (VAT, corporation tax, CIS) Assist with year-end audit preparation and statutory reporting
Budgeting & Forecasting
Assist with the annual budgeting and periodic forecasting processes, working closely with budget holders and senior leaders Produce meaningful financial analysis and commentary to explain business performance, trends, risks and opportunities Assist with creating and developing financial models to support business case development, commercial modelling and scenario analysis, using multiple data sources.
Strategic Support
Partner with operational and functional stakeholders to improve financial understanding and support sound commercial decision-making Support senior management with financial analysis and ad hoc reporting Analyse operational costs and identify opportunities for efficiency improvements Identify opportunities to improve finance processes, reporting quality and efficiency through continuous improvement Contribute to the wider finance team activity and projects as required, supporting business priorities and change initiatives
Skills and Attributes:
ACCA, ACA or CIMA Qualified Previous experience in a Management Accountant or similar finance role Ability to work to tight deadlines Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, using multiple data sources Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities Ability to communicate financial information clearly to non-finance stakeholders Experience using accounting software and ERP systems (IFS highly desirable) Excellent attention to detail and curiosity to understand more
