We have a current opportunity for a Senior Nurse Infection Prevention and Control on a Contract basis. The position will be based in London. For further information about this position please apply.
Interim Senior Nurse for Infection Prevention and Control
Context of the Role
An interim Senior Nurse for Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) will be a vital member of IPC Team, tasked with providing expert IPC advice and guidance across NEL. The role involves assisting with the prevention, surveillance, investigation, and control of infections within the Integrated Care System.
Key Responsibilities
Strategy and Annual Plan: Support the Deputy Director of IPC in developing and monitoring the IPC Strategy and Annual Plan, including monthly progress reports.
Complex Case Reviews:

Conduct reviews, interpret varied information, and provide evidence-based practice opinions.
Networking:

Build a network across NEL for insight, feedback, and collaborative work.
IPC Champions Network: Develop and manage a network of IPC practitioners across NEL's Social Care settings to enhance care quality and patient outcomes.
Education Programme:

Establish an IPC education programme and network forum in Social Care settings.
General Duties
Collaboration:

Work with specialist practitioners to implement the Annual Plan and improve care standards and equity.
Resource Management: Use key performance indicators to allocate resources effectively and ensure equitable service delivery.
Risk Assessment:

Identify and escalate risks through formal assessments
.
Data Analysis:

Analyse complex data from surveys, audits, and reviews to develop quality and safety monitoring systems.
Online Portal Management:

Maintain the IPC online portal to address queries and disseminate information.
Educational Needs:

Reassess and adjust educational needs and training across NEL as necessary.
Professional Development:

Stay updated on IPC practices and continue professional development.
Ideal Candidate Profile
Experience:

Extensive experience in infection prevention and control, including case review and strategy development.
Skills:

Strong analytical skills for interpreting complex information, excellent communication, and networking abilities.
Leadership:

Proven track record in developing and managing networks and educational programmes.
Adaptability:

Ability to reassess and adapt plans to meet changing needs.
Professionalism:

Commitment to ongoing professional development and maintaining up-to-date knowledge in IPC.
This role requires a proactive, communicative, and knowledgeable individual who can effectively manage IPC initiatives across a broad network of healthcare and social care settings.
