The purpose of this role is to lead a team in the development of category strategy and execution of strategic sourcing efforts globally and regionally for assigned categories, supporting non-merchandise spend areas of the business. Provides direction and oversight into the development of sourcing plans, targets, and value goals, ensuring Business Partners and TJX’s overall budget and business objectives are met.

Major Areas of Responsibility

• Accountable for execution of their regional and global sourcing events that are high complexity across all assigned categories including sourcing administration and event support in collaboration with their direct reports.  Uses defined strategic sourcing methodologies, tools, and templates to ensure a fair, open and competitive sourcing process.

• Accountable for managing direct reports in the execution of low to medium complexity events. 

• Responsible for the development of their regional and global sourcing strategies that are high complexity across all assigned categories.

• Accountable for managing direct reports in strategy development for low to medium complexity events. 

• Leads cross-functional teams in the execution of high complexity Strategic Sourcing initiatives and the implementation of category strategies.

• Collaborates with Business Partners to drive value for the business while maintaining high quality service standards.  Builds trust with key Business Partners to ensure alignment and satisfaction. Responsible for Business Partner relationship management up to the SVP level.

• Participates in the development and execution of contracts, ensuring compliance with the TJX Approval Authority Schedule and audit requirements.

• Acts as a negotiation expert, from the development of negotiation strategy through to execution, including a long-term programmatic approach to negotiation capability development.

• Actively participates in and/or leads Global Category Management Teams for assigned categories establishing solid partnerships with our Global peers and colleagues.

• Identifies and executes against opportunities for specification alignment, process improvement, and demand management.

• Supports supplier relationship management programs.

• Ensures, in partnership with Global Procurement Operations, a compliant ‘Source-to-Pay’ process is in place for all eligible Business Partner spend.

• Monitors and reports category-specific savings and performance metrics.

• Collects and actively challenges current product or service requirements; presents new sourcing strategies to drive cost savings; recommends new ways to manage demand through process re-design.

• Manages direct and indirect associates and develops them for future growth.

• Manages the optimization of the TJX Companies non-merchandise supply base which includes EU spend of $1 billion and global spend of $8 billion.  Each Mgr Of is responsible for $250M-$300M depending on the categories within their teams

• Indirect reports: 0-4

• Manages direct reports and is accountable for the strategic management of many regional and global suppliers.

• Responsible for managing large cross-functional teams.  Strategically manages supplier community, continually seeking innovation and on-going sustainable value.

• Responsible for providing strategic guidance and direction as part of the project governance structure.

• Escalates agreements or projects for approval where they exceed signing authority value.

• Responsible for hiring decisions for direct and indirect reports, consulting with management as needed for critical positions.

• Responsible for workload allocation and management within their teams and category areas.

• Strong command of procurement/sourcing systems and Microsoft Suite.

• Excellent interpersonal relationship development skills when interacting with Associates, colleagues, leaders, Business Partners and Suppliers.

• Strong management, training & development skills.

• Preference for candidates with experience in the retail industry and managing multinational Business Partners and suppliers.

Minimum experience required to perform this job.

• Strong depth of experience in strategic sourcing, procurement or related experience including people management experience.

Preferred education, qualification or equivalent experience for this role

• Bachelor’s degree, CIPS qualification or equivalent professional experience preferred but not essential.
