M&E Buyer

The Opportunity

A well-established and growing Building Services contractor is looking to appoint an M&E Buyer to support the procurement of Mechanical, Electrical and Public Health materials across a range of projects.

Working closely with the Procurement and Commercial teams, you will play a key role in ensuring materials are sourced competitively, delivered on time and procured in line with project budgets and programme requirements.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Buyer looking to join a business that is investing heavily in its procurement function and offers genuine long-term career progression.

Responsibilities

* Procuring Mechanical, Electrical and Public Health materials across multiple live projects

* Obtaining and evaluating supplier quotations

* Negotiating pricing, rebates, discounts and commercial terms

* Raising and managing purchase orders

* Building and maintaining strong relationships with suppliers and manufacturers

* Identifying new suppliers and alternative products to improve value and reduce costs

* Monitoring material availability and market trends

* Working closely with Commercial, Estimating and Project Teams to ensure procurement schedules are achieved

* Resolving supply chain issues and delivery challenges

* Maintaining accurate procurement records and reporting data

* Supporting continuous improvement initiatives across procurement processes

Requirements

* Previous buying or procurement experience within the M&E, Building Services or Construction sectors

* Good understanding of Mechanical and Electrical materials

* Strong commercial awareness and negotiation skills

* Experience managing supplier relationships

* Excellent communication and organisational skills

* Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously

* Strong attention to detail

* Proficient with Microsoft Office packages

Desirable

* CIPS qualification (or working towards)

* Experience working for an M&E Contractor, Building Services Contractor or Specialist Subcontractor

* CSCS or ECS Card
