About the opportunity

Global Recruitment Group is working in partnership with an ambitious and growing building services contractor based in Hamilton to recruit an experienced M&E Estimator.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a strong background in mechanical and electrical estimating who wants more than just a traditional estimating role. Our client is continuing to develop its M&E offering and is looking for a commercially minded individual who can play a key role in building, shaping and developing the front end of the business.

You will have the opportunity to contribute to the company's growth strategy, strengthen tendering processes, build relationships with clients and suppliers, and help secure new projects across a range of sectors.

The role

As M&E Estimator, you will take ownership of the estimating and tendering process, producing accurate, competitive and commercially sound quotations for mechanical and electrical building services projects.

Working closely with senior management and the wider team, you will help identify new opportunities, assess project viability and ensure tenders are prepared to a high standard. This role will suit someone who combines strong technical estimating ability with commercial awareness and a proactive, business-development mindset.

Key responsibilities

Prepare detailed and competitive estimates for mechanical and electrical installation projects.

*

Review tender documentation, drawings, specifications and schedules to establish project requirements.

*

Carry out accurate material take-offs, labour calculations and cost analysis.

*

Obtain, review and negotiate quotations from suppliers and subcontractors.

*

Identify commercial risks, opportunities and value-engineering solutions.

*

Prepare and submit tender returns within agreed deadlines.

*

Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, main contractors, suppliers and subcontractors.

*

Work closely with management to identify and pursue new business opportunities.

*

Help develop estimating systems, processes and procedures to support the growth of the M&E division.

*

Contribute to the overall commercial strategy, helping position the business for long-term success.

About you

We are keen to speak with candidates who have:

A strong background in M&E estimating, ideally within a building services contractor or similar environment.

*

Proven experience preparing and pricing mechanical and electrical tenders.

*

A good understanding of M&E installations, construction drawings, specifications and project costs.

*

Strong commercial awareness and the ability to identify profitable opportunities.

*

Excellent negotiation, communication and relationship-building skills.

*

The ability to manage multiple tenders and work to tight deadlines.

*

A proactive, entrepreneurial approach, with the confidence to contribute ideas and influence business growth.

*

The ambition to help develop an expanding M&E operation rather than simply maintain existing processes.
