Job Description - Manual Machining Training Instructor
Our client is seeking a Manual Machining Training Instructor to support the development of the next generation of marine engineers within a structured marine engineering education environment at Gosport. This permanent, full-time role offers an experienced engineering professional the opportunity to use practical workshop expertise to coach and inspire trainees. Full teacher training and ongoing support will be provided, so previous teaching experience is not essential.
Key Responsibilities:
Delivering high-quality training in mechanical craft, fabrication and core engineering competencies Introducing and developing practical hand skills, including fitting and filing Teaching trainees to interpret and understand basic technical drawings Providing instruction on the safe use of workshop equipment, hand tools and machinery Promoting and embedding high standards of workshop health and safety Coaching, mentoring and providing constructive feedback to support trainee progress Maintaining accurate training records and contributing to a positive, inclusive learning environment
Job Requirements:
Strong engineering background, preferably in mechanical engineering or fabrication Relevant engineering qualification at Level 3 or above Practical workshop experience and confidence using hand tools and machinery Understanding of mechanical craft, fabrication and basic technical drawings Proficiency in using IT hardware and software Strong communication skills and a genuine passion for developing others Willingness to learn and continuously develop as a trainer, with full training provided Eligibility to obtain UK Security Clearance at SC level
Desirable Skills and Experience:
Level 3 teaching qualification, Defence Train the Trainer qualification or equivalent Previous instructional experience within a military or civilian engineering environment Experience supporting learners in a practical workshop or marine engineering setting
