Manual Machinist

Our client, a leading manufacturer supplying the defence sector, is looking for an experienced Lathe Area Machinist / Production Supervisor to join their production team.

This is a hands-on leadership role, overseeing the technical operation of a busy machining department consisting of 16 multispindle lathes, a cold heading press and associated equipment operating within a high-volume manufacturing environment. You'll work closely with the Production Supervisor to drive performance, resolve technical issues, support the team and identify continuous improvement opportunities.

The Ideal Candidate

* 5-10 years' experience within a high-volume manufacturing environment.

* Strong technical knowledge of multispindle lathe machines and ancillary equipment.

* Experience working within a 24/7 or shift-based production environment.

* Excellent mechanical fault-finding and problem-solving skills.

* Knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 and a continuous improvement mindset.

* Confident leading, training and supporting production teams.
