Manual Machinist

We are recruiting for a Manual Machinist to work on a permanent basis near Oldham.

Salary is c£33,400 per annum plus 25 days' holiday and bank holidays, company pension, healthcare etc

If you are a Vertical Borer with webster & bennett experience, this would be preferred but not essential.

About the Manual Machinist role:

This is a hands-on role working with a range of manual machine tools, including lathes, milling machines and drilling equipment. The successful candidate will be comfortable working from technical drawings and producing precision components to tight tolerances.

Key Responsibilities for the Manual Machinist:

Operating manual lathes, milling machines and drilling equipment

*

Working from engineering drawings and written instructions

*

Machining components to precise tolerances

*

Selecting appropriate tooling and machine settings

*

Carrying out own inspection and quality checks

*

Using measuring equipment including micrometers, verniers and dial indicators

*

Following established machine shop, quality and health & safety procedures

*

Identifying and resolving machining issues

*

Supporting fitting and assembly activities where required

The Ideal Manual Machinist:

*

Time-served Manual Machinist or Mechanical Engineering Technician

*

NVQ Level 3 or equivalent engineering qualification preferred

*

Previous experience within a manufacturing or engineering environment

*

Confident reading and interpreting engineering drawings

*

Strong understanding of manual machining processes and tooling

*

Experienced using precision measuring equipment

*

High level of accuracy and attention to detail

*

Practical, hands-on approach to problem solving

*

Strong commitment to health and safety

*

Good communication skills and ability to work effectively as part of a team

*

Fitting and assembly experience would be advantageous
