Manual Machinist

Location: Cwmbran
Salary: £16.50–£17.50 per hour, depending on experience
Hours: Monday–Thursday, 7:30am–4:00pm | Friday, 7:30am–11:30am

The Opportunity

We are recruiting a skilled Manual Machinist to join an established manufacturing business in Cwmbran, specialising in the manufacture of industrial rollers.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced machinist who takes pride in producing accurate, high-quality components and is confident working from engineering drawings to achieve tight tolerances.

You'll be working with a range of materials and conventional machining equipment, with opportunities to use additional skills in CNC machining, milling and welding.

Key Responsibilities

* Manufacture steel, stainless steel and aluminium-cored rollers to specification.

* Operate manual lathes, including Magnum, Binns and Colchester machines.

* Read and interpret engineering drawings accurately.

* Turn and finish components to tight tolerances, ensuring quality and dimensional accuracy.

* Use precision measuring equipment, including micrometers, bore micrometers and height gauges.

* Carry out milling and other machining operations where required.

* Undertake balancing operations as part of the manufacturing process.

* Maintain high standards of quality, safety and housekeeping.

What We're Looking For

* Proven experience in manual turning and machining.

* Ability to read and work accurately from engineering drawings.

* Experience finishing components to tight tolerances.

* Confidence using precision measuring equipment.

* A reliable, practical approach with good attention to detail.

Salary and Benefits

* £16.50–£17.50 per hour, depending on experience.
