Manual Vertical Lathe Machinist

Elevation Recruitment Group are working in partnership with a leading composite manufacturing company based in Barnsley, who are looking to recruit a skilled Manual Machinist to join their growing team.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a time-served machinist with experience operating Vertical Turning Centres (VTCs), looking to join a forward-thinking company that supplies into high-spec industries and invests in both its people and technology.

Job Title: Manual Machinist – Vertical Turning Centre
Location: Barnsley
Salary: Negotiable
Working Hours:

• Week 1: Monday to Thursday, 6:00am – 2:30pm
• Week 2: Monday to Wednesday, 2:00pm – 12:30am; Thursday, 2:00pm – 11:00pm
  
  

Key Responsibilities:

• Operate and set up manual vertical turning centres to produce high-precision components.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings and work to tight tolerances.
• Perform quality checks using measuring equipment (micrometers, verniers, etc.).
• Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
• Work independently and within a team to meet production targets.

Person Specification:

• Proven experience operating manual machining equipment, specifically vertical turning centres.
• Ability to read and understand technical drawings.
• Comfortable working rotating shifts (outlined above).
• A proactive approach with a keen eye for detail.
• Previous experience within the composite or precision engineering sectors is desirable but not essential.
