Job Description - Manufacturing Engineer

Job Title: CNC Manufacturing Engineer – Aerospace Precision Engineering

Location: [Confidential – UK Based]
Job Type: Full-Time | Permanent

About the Role

We are seeking a self-motivated and detail-oriented CNC Manufacturing Engineer with a strong background in precision engineering and aerospace manufacturing practices. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a high-tech, quality-driven environment and is passionate about continuous improvement and innovation in manufacturing processes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and generate CNC programs for 3, 4, and 5-axis machine tools.
  • Create and optimize manufacturing processes for new and existing products.
  • Define tooling, inspection plans, and key process characteristics.
  • Produce setup sheets, tooling plans, and prove-out programs into production.
  • Configure and maintain all supporting process elements (routings, tooling, gauges, test equipment, work holding).
  • Identify and implement cost-effective manufacturing solutions.
  • Collaborate with New Product Introduction (NPI) teams.
  • Ensure compliance with AS9100 and internal quality management systems.
  • Research and integrate emerging manufacturing technologies.
Required Experience & Skills
  • Proficient in CAD/CAM software (GibbsCAM preferred).
  • Strong understanding of machine tool and cutting tool applications.
  • Experience interpreting technical drawings and specifications.
  • Familiarity with SOLIDWORKS and general machining (milling and turning).
  • Knowledge of aerospace manufacturing standards and practices.
  • Proven ability to manage workloads and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
Qualifications
  • Degree, HNC, or HND in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Aerospace Engineering (or equivalent).
  • Experience in a manufacturing/production role within a medium to large precision engineering environment, ideally aerospace.
  • CAD/CAM software training or certification.

  • Analytical and results-driven.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Self-motivated with a high level of accountability.
  • Customer-focused with a continuous improvement mindset.
  • Effective communicator across all levels of the organization.
Desirable
  • Experience with GibbsCAM or similar CAM software.
  • Ability to evaluate and present capital investment opportunities.
  • Project management experience.
