We are supporting a well-established engineering business within the UK rail sector that is seeking an experienced HVAC Manufacturing Engineer to join their growing team on an initial 6-month contract.
This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in the overhaul, repair and introduction of rolling stock HVAC systems, supporting both ongoing refurbishment programmes and new project activity.
The Role
Working closely with engineering and workshop teams, you will be responsible for developing and improving overhaul and repair processes, creating robust methods and procedures, and supporting the introduction of new products and programmes into the operation.
Key responsibilities will include:
Developing overhaul, repair and manufacturing methods for rail HVAC equipment. Creating work instructions, routings, procedures and repair sequences. Supporting New Product Introduction (NPI) activities. Working alongside technicians to improve workshop efficiency and quality. Investigating technical issues and implementing corrective actions. Supporting continuous improvement initiatives across the operation. Developing training and process documentation. Analysing performance data and identifying opportunities for improvement.
About You
To be successful, you will ideally have:
Proven experience working with rolling stock HVAC systems. Experience within a rail overhaul, maintenance, refurbishment or repair environment. Strong understanding of HVAC fault finding, repair and testing processes. Experience developing methods, procedures, work instructions or repair routes. Excellent problem-solving and root cause analysis skills. Strong communication skills and the ability to work closely with workshop teams.
Desirable Experience
Manufacturing, Methods or Process Engineering background. New Product Introduction (NPI) experience. Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma or Continuous Improvement experience. PFMEA, 8D, SPC or similar quality methodologies.
