We are working alongside a global machinery manufacturer based in Norwich. They have a new opportunity for a Manufacturing Engineer to join their team on a permanent basis. The role has a strong design focus so would be suited to someone in a similar role or Senior Design or Project Design Management. Key Performance Indicators • Reduction in Cost of Goods Manufactured (COGS) • Continuous Improvement Performance • Improvement Close-out • BOM and routing accuracy
Key Accountabilities • Generation and control of Standard Operating Procedures for all key products and processes • Identification, implementation and close-out of manufacturing improvement projects • Assist the engineering, planning and purchasing team with BOM structure and management to allow accurate manufacturing cost analysis • Timely and accurate transfer of Bills of Materials from the CAD system to ERP system • Implementation of Lean Manufacturing Practices
Key Duties and Responsibilities • Work with Engineering and Manufacturing to establish robust machine assembly processes • Investigate component failures and build issues in Machine Build • Participate in the Engineering Change process to ensure changes are prioritised and planned • Work with the quality and machine production departments to carry out PFMEAs of new products during the production engineering phase of projects. • Establish and maintain the correct work centres and routing lengths for assemblies throughout the shop floor manufacturing process. • Ensure Engineering changes are incorporated into machine assembly processes and provide support when changes are adopted in Manufacturing • Work with suppliers to co-ordinate the introduction of Engineering Changes • Contribute to the investigation and resolution of problems raised through the company’s CAPA (Corrective and Preventive Action) system • Act as a back up to Label manufacturing engineer for general label ERP system support, Cost variance analysis and label press tool design. • Support third party certification activities to recognised standards such as BRC Global Standard, Packaging and Packaging Materials and ISO 9001 • Abide by all statutory requirements and adhere to and promote all company policies and procedures including (but not limited to) those relating to HR, quality, food safety, environmental, and health and safety. • Undertake any other reasonable duties as directed by the line manager. This job role requires use of the E1 ERP platform to perform certain processes. Therefore, the job holder must: • Follow the agreed process within E1 and not deviate from, bypass or circumnavigate the E1 system in anyway (unless formally approved by their line manager/LG) to perform these tasks • Complete all assigned E1 training modules in the Learning Management System (LMS) relating to their assigned E1 Learning Plan. • Be formally signed off, by their Line Manager, as competent before access to the live E1 environment is granted. The Job Holder is also responsible for undertaking additional E1 training modules if and when they are assigned to them. This is in order to continue to be competent in the use of the E1 system.
Qualifications • Bachelors degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering or related degree • Lean Manufacturing Qualifications • Six Sigma Qualifications
Experience • Previous experience in an Engineering or Manufacturing environment • Knowledge and experience of low volume electro-mechanical assembly and test. • Knowledge and experience of ERP systems • Knowledge and experience of 2D/3D CAD Design
