Our team is expanding to support a major programme of new model launches, and the Manufacturing Engineer – New Model Introduction will play a central role in developing and standardising the processes that define how each vehicle is built.
This role is crucial to the success of our manufacturing operations, as the Manufacturing Engineer – New Model Introduction will guide programmes from initial concept design through prototype phases and into full series production. You’ll gain exposure across the business, working closely with design, engineering and operations teams on multiple projects while influencing programmes from beginning to end.
Principal Accountabilities
The Manufacturing Engineer – New Model Introduction will be responsible for developing the full suite of Manufacturing Engineering deliverables required for each new model programme, including:
Process & Concept Development
Creation of vehicle assembly concepts. Developing build processes in virtual environments and transitioning them into physical validation and delivery. Establishing process sequencing, documentation and traceability methodologies. Ensuring alignment with existing series production processes and future strategic direction. Quality, Efficiency & Best Practice
Leading PFMEA creation and updates. Driving best practice implementation to improve Right-First-Time (RFT) delivery. Generating and reporting Hours Per Car (HPC). Owning and maintaining HPC data to support efficiency and output targets. Identifying and resolving production bottlenecks alongside Engineering and Operations teams. Operational Integration
Line balancing and conducting time-and-motion studies across the plant. Facility layout and utilisation planning. Leading layout design or modifications to support new model builds and material flow strategies. Cross-Functional Project Support
Supporting concept and design reviews. Contributing to Engineering Release deliverables. Supporting DFMEA activities.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
Essential
Degree in Mechanical, Automotive, Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent experience. Experience in:
Planning and execution of new vehicle programmes Complex vehicle systems Vehicle assembly processes, including trim & final End-of-line vehicle processing / finishing Specification and procurement of assembly equipment Identifying and resolving product-related build issues Implementing safe working practices
Desirable
Experience within low-volume, high-value vehicle production environments. Strong data analysis capability with excellent skills in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
