Manufacturing Engineer – Product & Planning
Location: Filton, Bristol Duration: 6 months with potential extension Working Pattern: 37 hours per week, Monday – Friday. Full time on site. Rate: GBP 29.81 p/h PAYE / Inside IR35
Job Description
To provide Manufacturing Engineering (ME) support to the Assembly business to enable the achievement of Business targets.
The specific tasks undertaken by the successful applicant will be mainly focussed around the following: the resolution of value stream related issues, reduction of non-conformance, establishing the most cost effective / Lean route of achieving the required quality and delivery performance and ensuring environmental compliance through ISO 14001 and 18001.
Key Accountabilities / Responsibilities
The successful applicant will be individually responsible for one or more of the following at any one time:
Value Stream related production issues. To determine the most effective and economical method of manufacture. To compile process planning for a defined area and define the tooling requirements / manage initial supply of tooling for introduction of new products, and / or modifications to existing products. To assist in the definition of manufacturing facilities and equipment requirements. To provide support for the introduction of new facilities and equipment. The successful applicant will also be individually responsible and accountable for the definition, implementation and reporting of key projects and/or continuous improvement programmes, within a defined area. Key interfaces and relationships will be maintained with a number of internal (The Client) and external (Customer/supplier) bodies, at levels encompassing unskilled operators, through to senior management. All tasks undertaken will be addressed in line with defined ME procedures, to achieve challenging targets.
Points of contact will be made with representatives outside of the company, including suppliers, consultants and controlling authorities.
Experience
The successful applicant will have significant manufacturing experience in a production environment; in particular experience in Assembly is essential. Recognised Manufacturing Engineering training although training will be provided. Experience of Lean principles is preferred. Ability to use Microsoft Office and Project is essential. Ability to use Catia also would be preferred.
Attributes / Characteristics
It is vital that the jobholder acts as a team player at all times. Ability to work under own initiative within a defined programme and targets. Good communication skills are essential. Problem solving techniques.
Qualifications
Qualification to HNC/Degree level, unless the applicant can demonstrate a clear ability, and a number of years, experience, in relation to the anticipated position Only candidates based in UK and eligible to work in UK are allowed
