You will:
*
Review new customer orders, drawings, specifications and delivery dates to fully understand requirements before work begins
*
Create works orders and manufacturing routes within the ERP system, identifying the correct sequence of operations such as cutting, forming, welding, machining, finishing and inspection
*
Calculate and confirm setup and operation times, and check that material, tooling, programmes and subcontract services are available ahead of production
*
Issue job packs containing drawings, route cards and relevant specifications
*
Work with production supervisors to resolve shortages, bottlenecks and technical problems, and support root cause analysis where needed
*
Coordinate subcontract processes such as heat treatment, plating or specialist testing
*
Support contract review, new product introduction and first-off production, using CAD software (2D & 3D) to help resolve technical problems found during manufacture
*
Ensure revision-controlled drawings and specifications are used throughout, and maintain accurate planning information within the ERP system
*
Review actual production times against planned times to improve future estimates
*
Attend production meetings and report on priorities, delays and recovery actions
Successful applicants must be able to demonstrate:
*
Proven experience in a manufacturing planning role, ideally within a precision engineering or fabrication environment
*
Practical, hands-on industry experience — for example, having progressed from a shop floor role into planning
*
CAD experience with packages such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Siemens NX or HyperMill (Fusion 360 is used by the business but not essential)
*
A background in fabrication is preferred, though candidates with strong machining experience will also be considered
*
A proactive approach to planning and understanding requirements upfront, helping to prevent production issues before they arise
*
The ability to hit the ground running — apprenticeship-trained or time-served candidates are just as welcome as those with formal qualifications
