Overview

EMBS Engineering Ltd is working in partnership with a precision manufacturing business in Warwickshire that is currently in the market for a Technical Author / Method Engineer.

This is a backfill role, replacing an outgoing manufacturing engineer who established a well-regarded documentation standard across the site. The successful candidate will take ownership of that standard and maintain it to the same level, working closely with the shop floor to keep process documentation accurate and current.

Your responsibilities will include:

As Technical Author / Method Engineer, you will author and own the site's documentation standard, working closely with production teams to capture process detail accurately.

  Author, maintain and own Standard Work Instructions (SWIs), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and data cards, as the originator of the content rather than only a reviewer

  
  


• 
  

  Work directly on the shop floor with operators, technicians and engineers, taking photographs and capturing process steps first-hand

  
  


• 
  

  Write instructions with genuine operator engagement in mind, so documents are followed in practice and not just on paper

  
  


• 
  

  Take documentation through formal approval loops for release into production and the Quality Management System (QMS)

  
  


• 
  

  Act as the overall reviewer and acceptor of documents produced across the department

  
  


• 
  

  Focus the bulk of your work on press and weld processes

  
  

Successful applicants must be able to demonstrate:

  Demonstrated experience authoring (not just reviewing or approving) technical manufacturing documentation, with strong depth of knowledge rather than requiring close supervision

  
  


• 
  

  Experience taking documentation through formal QMS approval and release processes

  
  


• 
  

  Strong understanding of how to write instructions that secure genuine operator buy-in, not just formal compliance

  
  


• 
  

  Experience across press and/or weld manufacturing processes

  
  


• 
  

  Comfortable working at pace across a high volume of documentation

  
  


• 
  

  Aerospace industry background preferred, though strong comparable manufacturing backgrounds will also be considered
