IPS Group is partnering with a respected insurer to find a talented Cargo & Freight Underwriter for their Manchester office. This is an exciting opportunity to manage a dynamic portfolio of SME and midmarket risks, primarily focusing on renewals, with some exposure to new business.

You’ll work with premiums ranging from £2.5k to £100k, balancing high-volume cases with more complex, high-value risks. In this role, you will build strong relationships with intermediaries and customers, ensuring their needs align with the company’s objectives. Your expertise will be essential in managing opportunities and guiding the team, sharing your knowledge with less experienced colleagues and fostering a culture of continuous development.

You’ll have the autonomy to make key decisions within your authority, all while working with a dynamic and diverse team that values collaboration and integrity. Your role will be integral in driving the long-term success of the business, ensuring the right balance between growth and risk management, and always delivering the best outcomes for customers.

We’re looking for someone with solid experience in Cargo or Freight insurance, either within underwriting or broking. You’ll bring a strong technical understanding of cargo policies, including the key principles and complexities involved in underwriting freight and logistics risks. Previous experience managing portfolios that include diverse and often complex risks will be crucial for success in this role.
