Market Risk Manager – Commodities trading firm (Recruitment by Josh Lawson)

Location: London

Are you an experienced Market Risk Manager with a strong understanding of commodity markets? Are you ready to make a significant impact in a dynamic trading environment? We are partnering with a growing business in the energy sector to find a skilled and entrepreneurial Market Risk Manager.

This role offers an excellent opportunity to work within a high-performing Risk team, ensuring that market risks are effectively managed, reported, and mitigated. You will work closely with both front-office and back-office teams to ensure the company trades responsibly and in a transparent manner.

Key Responsibilities:

Serve as a member of the Risk Committee, challenging trading limits and leading quarterly meetings as Chair.

Support the Market Risk team by delivering accurate and timely daily risk reports, dashboards, and commentary.

Take ownership of consolidated Group position and MTM reports, summarising all market risk exposures arising from trading and hedging activities.

Review and challenge marking methodologies to ensure commercially meaningful reports.

Identify gaps and proactively develop/implement reports to increase transparency across the business.

Collaborate with Trading, Commercial, and Finance teams to facilitate accurate reconciliation of P&L figures and financial accounts.

Work alongside Business Analysts on the development and implementation of the TriplePoint ETRM system.

Support ad hoc tasks within the Risk team and the wider business as required.

Qualifications & Experience:

5+ years of experience in physical oil/products market risk.

Advanced MS Excel skills.

Familiarity with ETRM systems (TriplePoint (CXL) is preferable).

Accounting qualification is a plus.
