About the Role

As Materials Manager, you will be responsible for leading inventory management, warehouse, and logistics activities to ensure materials are available when needed while maintaining efficient inventory levels. The role balances operational priorities with corporate inventory objectives and contributes directly to business performance through effective planning, process improvement, and cross-functional collaboration.

Working closely with Operations, Purchasing, Engineering, Supply Chain, and Logistics teams, you will identify opportunities to improve inventory accuracy, streamline material flow, and enhance operational efficiency.

Responsibilities
  • Lead inventory management, warehouse, shipping, and logistics operations to support business objectives.  
  • Manage inventory levels, material availability, and inventory accuracy while driving continuous improvement.  
  • Lead and develop warehouse and logistics teams through effective coaching, planning, and performance management.  
  • Collaborate with Purchasing, Engineering, Operations, and Supply Chain teams to ensure timely material availability.  
  • Monitor inventory performance, cycle counting, and inventory reporting to maintain high levels of accuracy.  
  • Support production planning by ensuring materials are available to meet operational requirements.  
  • Drive process improvements that increase efficiency, reduce waste, and optimize inventory performance.  
  • Coordinate domestic and international shipping activities, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations and company standards.  
  • Maintain effective relationships with suppliers, freight providers, and internal stakeholders.  
  • Promote a culture of safety, quality, collaboration, and continuous improvement across the function. 


Qualifications

Essential Qualifications

  • Significant experience in materials management, warehouse management, logistics, or supply chain operations.  
  • Previous people management experience, including leading operational teams.  
  • Experience working within a structured corporate environment.  
  • Strong understanding of inventory management principles and warehouse operations.  
  • Experience working with ERP systems (Oracle or similar enterprise systems preferred).  
  • Strong organisational and planning skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.  
  • Effective communication and stakeholder management skills.  
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.  

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in manufacturing or industrial operations.  
  • Experience managing both warehouse and logistics activities.  
  • Familiarity with Oracle Cloud ERP or comparable enterprise systems.  
  • Experience driving process improvements and operational efficiency initiatives.  
  • Knowledge of international shipping and logistics processes.  
  • Advanced Excel skills, including data analysis and reporting tools.
