Mechanical Fitter (Assembly / Power Tools)

£33,000 - £37,000 + Annual Bonus + Increased Overtime

Are you a mechanical fitter with manufacturing experience looking for a secure, site-based role building special purpose machines to high standards while enjoying training, progression, and bonus opportunities in a growing global company?

On offer is a great opportunity to join a skilled, supportive team and work on-site in Somerset. You'll assemble special purpose machines to precise engineering drawings, fit bearings, gears, and pulleys, build sub-assemblies, and install pneumatic and hydraulic pipework-all while maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and efficiency.

This company has over 100 years' experience since it was established in the early 1900s and has built a fantastic reputation within the industry, both in the UK and Internationally. They supply specialised equipment to the converting and printing industries alongside offering customer breakdown services and repairs.

This is the ideal role for a time served Mechanical Fitter looking to take the next step in their career offering hands-on technical variety, long-term stability, and the chance to play a key role in a forward-thinking, supportive business.

The Role

  • Assemble components according to specifications and engineering drawings.
  • Utilise hand tools and power tools effectively to complete tasks efficiently.
  • General assembly of small sub-assemblies to larger sections.
  • Fitting bearings, taper lock pulleys and gears.
  • Running pneumatic & hydraulic pipework.
  • Conduct quality checks on completed work to ensure adherence to standards.
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment, following all safety protocols.
  • Collaborate with team members to optimise production processes and resolve any issues that arise during fabrication.

The Person

  • Fully time-served mechanical fitter/engineer.
  • Must hold a mechanical engineering qualification.
  • Proficiency in using hand tools and power tools for assembly and fabrication tasks.
