Job Description - Mechanical Building Services Design Engineer
My client are an established mechanical building services contractor based in Hampshire, who are looking to appoint an experienced Mechanical Building Services Design Engineer to join their in-house design team.
The company delivers a diverse range of mechanical building services projects across the healthcare, commercial, education and refurbishment sectors, with a particularly strong portfolio within hospitals and diagnostic environments.
Projects generally range from £200k to £800k, with larger projects reaching up to approximately £2 million.
As a Mechanical Building Services Design Engineer, you will be responsible for developing mechanical designs from initial concept through to construction.
Key Responsibilities:
·Design mechanical building services systems across HVAC, ventilation, heating, cooling and domestic water. ·Develop designs from concept through to construction. ·Develop consultant and client designs into practical and coordinated installation solutions. ·Undertake site surveys and validate existing mechanical systems. ·Carry out mechanical design calculations and technical assessments. ·Undertake equipment selection and produce equipment schedules. ·Prepare technical submissions and supporting design documentation. ·Coordinate mechanical services with other disciplines. ·Work closely with estimating and project delivery teams. ·Liaise with consultants, clients, suppliers and specialist subcontractors. ·Provide technical support during the construction phase. ·Attend design and project meetings where required.
You will have:
·Previous experience in mechanical building services design. ·Good knowledge of HVAC, ventilation, heating, cooling and domestic water systems. ·Experience taking designs from concept through to construction. ·The ability to develop consultant designs into practical, buildable solutions. ·Experience undertaking site surveys and assessing existing systems. ·Good understanding of mechanical design calculations and equipment selection. ·Experience producing schedules, technical submissions and design documentation. ·A practical approach to engineering and design. ·The ability to work independently and take ownership of projects and deadlines.
