Job Description - Mechanical Design Engineer

Mechanical Design Engineer
Our client, a UK based company specialising in the design and manufacture of bespoke mechanical equipment & machinery to multiple industries industries. We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team to work closely with customers to design bespoke machinery and equipment to meet their individual requirements.

Requirements:

Proficient in 3D CAD software like Inventor / SolidWorks also considered.
Practical experience in mechanical design within an industrial design environment
Holds a recognized engineering certification or apprenticeship.
Strong understanding of engineering manufacturing techniques
Capable of interpreting assembly drawings and delivering high-quality results that meet customer expectations

A competitive base salary up to £40,000 depending on experience.

Mechanical Design Engineer
Responsibilities:

Generate manufacturing / engineering designs and equipment layouts, along with supporting mechanical documentation (schedules, bill of materials, sub-assembly drawings, schematics, etc.).
Maintain existing mechanical drawings and documentation when equipment is upgraded or modified.
Act as a liaison between the drawing office, mechanical technicians, and sub-suppliers.
Work with other departments to ensure the correct parts are ordered and supplied for assembly
Coordinate with the Drawing Office Manager to manage the workload and ensure that project deadlines are met, promptly notifying the project team of any changes.
Regularly update mechanical drawings throughout the project, ensuring they are shared with all relevant departments and that the correct revisions are maintained in the data-management system
Provide assistance with various tasks within the Drawing Office Department, such as creating enquiry drawings and conducting site surveys, when needed.
