Multi Skilled Maintenance Engineer – Days!

Salary: £47,000 per annum to be increased to £51,980.08 after joining the call out system of 1 in 6.
Location: Thurrock, Essex

I’m currently working with a well-established client in the food production industry who is looking to bring a skilled Maintenance Engineer into their team at a busy flour mill. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a collaborative and experienced engineering department, where your expertise will help ensure the smooth and safe running of the plant.

The Role

As a Maintenance Engineer, you’ll be responsible for delivering high-quality planned, predictive, and reactive maintenance across the site. You’ll play a key role in maintaining operational efficiency, ensuring compliance with safety and legal standards, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance tasks in line with health, safety and quality standards.
• Support plant improvements and collaborate across departments.
• Monitor and liaise with external contractors on site.
• Conduct regular inspections and audits.
• Respond promptly to plant breakdowns and stoppages.
• Use the Maximo system to log work and manage maintenance schedules.
• Carry out repairs efficiently and safely.
• Apply root cause analysis to resolve faults.
• Manage tools, parts, and materials to support cost control.
• Identify and pursue training and development opportunities.

What We’re Looking For

• Strong customer focus with a flexible, proactive approach.
• Self-motivated and reliable, with the ability to work independently.
• Previous experience in a maintenance engineering role, ideally within FMCG, food or drink sectors.
• Computer literate and familiar with maintenance systems.
• Recognised engineering apprenticeship and formal qualification.
• Practical experience with:
  
  1. Mechanical drive systems (couplings, chains, belts, bearings)
  
  2. 3-phase motors and PLC systems
  
  3. Pneumatic and compressed air systems
  
  4. Steam plant and industrial bearings
