Mechanical Engineer (Building Services)

Central London University | Temporary Ongoing Contract

£30.00 per hour Umbrella OR £27.00 per hour PAYE

Monday to Friday | Overtime Available

Our client, a prestigious university based in Central London, is looking to appoint an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join their Estates and Facilities team on an ongoing temporary basis.
This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified mechanical maintenance professional seeking a long-term role within a large and complex educational environment. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining critical mechanical plant and ensuring the smooth operation of university buildings across the campus.
The RoleReporting to the Engineering Supervisor, you will be responsible for the planned and reactive maintenance of a wide range of mechanical systems and building services equipment.

Key duties will include:

Carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive mechanical maintenance.
Maintaining and fault-finding on HVAC systems, pumps, motors, valves, pipework and associated plant.
Working on heating, hot and cold water systems, chilled water systems and general building services infrastructure.
Monitoring building plant performance and responding to engineering faults.
Assisting with statutory compliance checks and ensuring all records are accurately maintained.
Supporting minor installation and project works as required.
Liaising with colleagues, contractors and university stakeholders to minimise disruption to building users.
Ensuring all work is completed in accordance with health and safety regulations and university procedures.Candidate RequirementsThe ideal candidate will have:

A recognised mechanical engineering qualification (City & Guilds, NVQ Level 3, Apprenticeship or equivalent).
Proven experience within a commercial, healthcare, higher education, public sector or corporate environment.
Strong knowledge of mechanical building services maintenance.
Experience working on HVAC, boilers, pumps, valves, AHUs, FCUs and associated mechanical plant.
Ability to diagnose faults and carry out repairs independently.
Good understanding of health and safety legislation and safe systems of work.
Excellent communication and customer service skills.What's on Offer?

£30.00 per hour Umbrella or £27.00 per hour PAYE.
Monday to Friday working pattern.
Overtime available:
Saturday: Time and a Half (x1.5)
Sunday: Double Time (x2)
