We are currently recruiting for an experienced Mechanical Engineer / Fitter to join the engineering team at an established and forward-thinking manufacturing and processing business.
Our client is one of the UK's leading processors within the animal by-products and food waste sector, with a strong reputation for environmentally responsible practices and an important role within the agricultural and food industries.

The Role
Working as part of a knowledgeable engineering team, you will be responsible for maintaining and improving site plant, equipment, buildings and infrastructure, ensuring maximum reliability, efficiency and availability.
You will work closely with the production team to minimise downtime, carry out planned and preventative maintenance, fault-find effectively and contribute to continuous improvement across the site.
Key Responsibilities
* Carry out planned and preventative maintenance using the site's CMMS system (Holistech).
* Diagnose and rectify mechanical faults across plant and production equipment.
* Work closely with production to maximise plant and equipment utilisation.
* Assist with continuous improvement and the development of new manufacturing methods.
* Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce energy and utility costs.
* Complete relevant maintenance and statutory documentation.
* Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with company procedures and health and safety requirements.
About You
The ideal candidate will have a mechanical engineering background with strong hands-on experience and ideally be apprentice trained to a minimum Level 2 (C&G / EAL / NVQ) standard.
Candidates with relevant mechanical experience, a strong practical aptitude and the right attitude will also be considered.
You should have:
* Hands-on mechanical engineering or fitting experience.
* Experience within a manufacturing, processing or similar industrial environment.
* Experience with PPM and mechanical fault-finding.
* A good understanding of Health & Safety requirements.
* Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
* The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* A willingness to undertake further training and development.
* The right to work in the UK.
* The ability to reliably travel to the site.
Shift Pattern
4 days on / 4 days off – rotating days and nights.
Average 43 hours per week.
Salary & Benefits
£46,000 – £49,000 per annum, dependent on qualifications and experience.
Paid overtime at time and a quarter.
