Are you an experienced Mechanical Engineer, Senior Engineer or Team Leader ready to step into a supervisory role?
This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing specialist engineering business at a brand-new production facility in Milton Keynes. You’ll lead a small team while remaining hands-on with the build, installation, servicing and commissioning of bespoke industrial equipment.
Initially supervising two engineers, this role is ideal for someone who enjoys being on the tools but wants greater responsibility, leadership and ownership.
The Role
Reporting to the Production Manager, you’ll oversee day-to-day mechanical engineering activities across production and customer sites.
Key responsibilities include:
Lead and support a small team of mechanical engineers. Provide technical guidance, mentoring and day-to-day supervision. Build and assemble bespoke mechanical equipment. Support customer-site installations, commissioning, repairs and maintenance. Coordinate installation and service projects through to completion. Work with internal teams to ensure projects are delivered on time and to specification. Maintain high standards of quality, workmanship and health & safety. Coordinate contractors and subcontractors, including RAMS and Permit to Work requirements. Drive LEAN and continuous improvement initiatives to improve efficiency and reduce costs. Help develop and improve new production processes. Source and order spare parts when required. Occasional travel and overnight stays will be required for customer projects.
About You
You’ll be a practical and proactive Mechanical Engineer with strong hands-on skills and ideally some previous leadership experience.
You’ll have:
NVQ Level 3 or higher in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent. Experience within manufacturing, engineering or production. Previous supervisory, team leader or senior engineering experience. Strong mechanical assembly and engineering skills. Good health & safety and risk management knowledge. Excellent communication and problem-solving skills. Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel. Desirable: LEAN/continuous improvement experience, IOSH, ILM or similar leadership qualification, and experience with bespoke machinery or specialist equipment.
