Role- Mechanical Estimator Location: Northampton Salary: £55,000 - £65,000 + Benefits Job Type: Full-time, Permanent Working Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:30am - 5:00pm The Role As a Mechanical Estimator, you will be responsible for producing accurate, competitive, and commercially viable tenders for a wide range of mechanical building services projects. Working closely with the estimating team, you will assess project documentation, prepare cost estimates, and contribute to successful bid submissions. Although projects are delivered nationwide, this is primarily an office-based position in Northampton. Key Responsibilities * Prepare detailed mechanical cost estimates from drawings, specifications, and tender documentation. * Price mechanical building services installations across a range of project sectors. * Produce accurate take-offs and cost breakdowns. * Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive quotations. * Review project specifications to identify risks, opportunities, and value engineering options. * Work independently and collaboratively with the estimating team to deliver high-quality tender submissions. * Ensure all estimates are commercially competitive, technically accurate, and submitted within deadlines. * Support the business in securing new contracts and achieving continued growth. Requirements * Previous experience as a Mechanical Estimator within the building services or M&E sector. * Strong technical knowledge of: * Plumbing and domestic water services * Heating systems * HVAC and air conditioning * Ventilation and ductwork * Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications with confidence. * Experience producing estimates independently from enquiry through to tender submission. * Strong commercial awareness and excellent attention to detail. * Effective communication and organisational skills. * Proficient in Microsoft Office and estimating software.
