The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Mechanical Estimator to join a well-established and rapidly growing M&E contractor specialising in commercial fit-out, retail, refurbishment and installation projects across the UK.
Operating nationwide, the business delivers complete mechanical and electrical solutions from concept through to completion, working with some of the UK's best-known commercial and retail clients. Due to continued growth, they are looking to strengthen their pre-construction team with the addition of a commercially minded Mechanical Estimator.
This is a hybrid role based from the Castleford office, with occasional travel and overnight stays required to support projects and client meetings.

The Role

As a Mechanical Estimator, you'll play a key role in securing new business by producing accurate, competitive and commercially viable estimates for a variety of mechanical installation projects.
Working closely with the wider pre-construction and operational teams, you'll ensure tenders are submitted to the highest standard whilst identifying opportunities to maximise project value.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare detailed mechanical estimates, material take-offs and cost plans.
Review drawings, specifications and tender documentation.
Obtain and assess supplier and subcontractor quotations.
Produce competitive tender submissions within required deadlines.
Analyse project risks, market rates and value engineering opportunities.
Liaise with clients, suppliers and internal project teams throughout the tender process.
Support successful handover of awarded projects to the delivery team.
Maintain strong commercial relationships with suppliers and subcontractors.
Contribute to continuous improvement within the estimating function.

What We're Looking For

Previous experience as a Mechanical Estimator within the building services, M&E or construction sector.
Strong understanding of commercial mechanical installations.
Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
Excellent commercial awareness and attention to detail.
Strong communication and organisational skills.
Confident using estimating software and Microsoft Office.
Full UK Driving Licence.

Qualifications

GCSE (or equivalent) in English and Maths.
HNC/HND or BTEC in Mechanical Engineering or Construction (desirable).
Degree qualification or professional membership would be advantageous.
