Our client is a well-established building services company delivering mechanical and facilities solutions across a range of sectors.
Due to continued growth, they are looking to appoint an experienced Mechanical Estimator to take ownership of the estimating process and play a key role in preparing accurate, competitive and profitable tenders.
Mechanical Estimator - Position Overview
Manage the estimating process from initial enquiry through to tender submission. Analyse tender drawings, specifications and contract documentation to establish project requirements and commercial risks. Undertake detailed take-offs, prepare bills of quantities and build up rates for labour, plant and materials. Manage supply chain enquiries, obtaining and analysing competitive quotations from subcontractors and suppliers. Liaise with clients, consultants, designers and internal teams throughout the tendering process. Identify opportunities for innovation and value engineering to improve project value and profitability. Ensure cost planning and estimating accurately reflect project requirements and risk profile. Prepare and present completed tenders for Director approval and client submission. Support commercial management through valuations, variations, cost value analysis and final accounts. Identify and support the management of project risks and opportunities. Contribute to continuous improvement while ensuring compliance with company procedures, QEMS and health and safety standards.Mechanical Estimator - Position Requirements
Proven experience as a Mechanical Estimator within construction or building services. Strong mechanical background with the ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications. Experience preparing detailed tenders, undertaking take-offs and building up rates. Strong commercial awareness with experience obtaining and analysing subcontractor and supplier quotations. Good understanding of mechanical materials, products and installation requirements. Strong analytical, organisational and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail. Excellent communication and relationship-building skills. Ability to manage multiple tenders and work effectively to strict deadlines. Proficient in Microsoft Office and relevant estimating/commercial systems.
