With over 40 years' trading history and a current turnover of approximately £5m, the business has built a strong reputation for delivering mechanical and electrical packages, typically on projects up to £2m in value. Mechanical works are delivered in-house with direct labour, while electrical packages are subcontracted and managed. Role Overview This role has been created to support the next phase of growth, particularly within VRF and VRV air conditioning packages, and to reduce the estimating workload currently managed at Director level. You will take ownership of the estimating function, producing accurate and competitive tenders while supporting the wider commercial and operational teams. Key Responsibilities Prepare detailed mechanical estimates for commercial projects up to £2m Review drawings, specifications, and tender documentation Carry out take-offs and pricing from first principles Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive quotations Support pricing of VRF and VRV systems as part of business growth strategy Identify risks, opportunities, and value engineering options Assist with tender adjudications and project handovers Experience & Requirements Proven experience as a Mechanical Estimator within the UK M&E sector Experience working on commercial building services projects Knowledge of HVAC systems, ideally including VRF/VRV Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively Strong technical and commercial understanding Skills High attention to detail and strong numerical accuracy Commercially aware with a methodical approach Strong communication and organisational skills IT literate, with experience in estimating and Microsoft Excel The Opportunity This is a key hire within a long-established, family-oriented contractor looking to grow and evolve.
