Job Overview

As a Mechanical Estimator – Building Services, you will assess project information and prepare clear, considered cost estimates for mechanical building services work. You will work with drawings, specifications and supplier information to build a reliable picture of likely costs, identify areas needing clarification and communicate your findings to colleagues involved in planning and delivery.

Duties

* Review project drawings, specifications and tender documents to identify mechanical scope, quantities and pricing requirements.

* Obtain and compare supplier and subcontractor quotations, checking that costs align with the specified work.

* Prepare estimates, document assumptions and highlight exclusions, risks or information requiring clarification.

* Apply cost control when reviewing estimates and updates, helping colleagues make informed decisions and plan project resources effectively.

* Your impact: Clear, well-supported estimates help project colleagues plan work with greater confidence and reduce uncertainty around costs.

Requirements

Required: You can interpret technical project information, organise cost details accurately, compare quotations and communicate assumptions clearly. Cost control is an important practical capability for reviewing estimates and supporting sound project decisions. Preferred: Experience preparing mechanical building services estimates, familiarity with tendering processes, or strengths in supplier coordination and detailed cost analysis would be useful
