Location: Near Southend On Sea
Salary: £30,000 – £40,000 per annum (dependent on experience)
Hours: Monday to Thursday, 6:45am – 4:30pm (37 hours per week)
Contract: Permanent, Full-Time
We’re looking for a Mechanical Inspector with strong aerospace sector experience to join a well-established precision engineering business near Southend On Sea. This hands-on role is perfect for someone with a understanding of FAIRs, high/low tolerance parts, and modern inspection tools.

Mechanical Inspector Duties

• Conduct thorough inspections at all manufacturing stages
• Verify parts in line with AS9100 and customer requirements
• Generate and complete First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs – AS9102)
• Manage and resolve non-conformances (internal and supplier)
• Perform root cause analysis and contribute to corrective actions
• Compile and review quality management documentation for contracts
• Perform light programming and operation of CMM machines and laser measuring tools
• Act as an authorised signatory for release of components

Mechanial Inspector Profile

• Strong quality inspection background, ideally in aerospace
• Comfortable working to high and low tolerances
• Recent experience working with FAIRs (AS9102/C) and Visual FAIR software
• Familiarity with AS9100 and auditing processes
• Ability to read and interpret technical engineering drawings
• Comfortable using CMMs and laser measurement tools
• Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to quality
• Good communication skills and basic computer literacy (Excel essential)
