An established manufacturing business is seeking a skilled Maintenance Engineer to join its operations team. This is a pivotal role responsible for maintaining production equipment, ensuring minimal downtime, and driving continuous improvements across the plant. The position offers excellent opportunities for professional growth, including training in electrical disciplines and automation technologies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry out routine and preventative maintenance on mechanical equipment and systems.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical faults efficiently to reduce production downtime.
  • Assist with the installation, commissioning, and modification of machinery and equipment.
  • Monitor equipment performance and recommend improvements or upgrades.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities.
  • Collaborate with operational colleagues and other departments to ensure smooth operation of all plant equipment.
  • Support and contribute to health and safety initiatives, ensuring full compliance with policies and procedures.
  • Participate in continuous improvement projects and share ideas to optimise processes.
  • Undertake training and development in electrical wiring, PLCs, and automation systems.
  • Assist with electrical troubleshooting and maintenance as skills develop.

Person Specification:
Essential:

  • Proven experience (ideally 5+ years) as a Maintenance Engineer or similar role within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Strong mechanical background with knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic, and other mechanical systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and control manuals.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Relevant vocational qualifications (e.g., NVQ, City & Guilds, or equivalent) in mechanical engineering or a related field.

Desirable:

  • Basic understanding of electrical systems.
  • Willingness to develop skills in electrical wiring, PLCs, and automation.
  • IT literacy (e.g., Excel, Word).
