Job Title: Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor

Location: Swindon

Salary: Between £45,000 to £50,000 per annum

Hours: Monday to Friday, 8am to 4pm

Job Type: Full-time; Perm or Temp to Perm contracts available

You'll be leading a team of dedicated professionals and contributing significantly to the operational success of the company.

Key Responsibilities:

* Ensure the continuous serviceability of critical Tactical Power Support (TPS) equipment by performing both preventative and corrective maintenance.

* Utilise expert diagnostic skills to identify issues and implement timely solutions, ensuring minimal downtime and disruption to operations.

* Conduct thorough inspections and modifications of equipment. Report any damages outside of Fair Wear & Tear directly to the TPS Support Manager, maintaining clear and precise communication.

* Enforce strict adherence to Work Procedures and Processes within the maintenance team, ensuring consistent and high-quality maintenance practices.

* Maintain accurate and up-to-date maintenance records using JAMES systems, ensuring all data is meticulously logged and accessible.

* Identify opportunities for refurbishing equipment, significantly reducing costs associated with spare parts procurement.

* Lead, mentor, and train apprentices and new team members, ensuring they are fully competent and compliant with necessary training modules. Provide additional training to customers as required.

* Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the maintenance department, constantly seeking ways to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.

* Guarantee that all operations comply with Quality, Health, and Safety regulations, COSHH, Engineering Hygiene, and Risk Assessments. Promote safe working practices, especially in hazardous environments.

* Ensure maintenance areas are maintained to a high standard of cleanliness and organization through effective housekeeping.

Candidate Requirements:

* Recognised Mechanical Engineering Apprenticeship, City & Guilds or NVQ3.

* Highly motivated, strong, confident, articulate, client-facing, good people skills, and a sound communicator.

* Ability to work in a team, create a productive environment, supervise, and mentor team members.

* Extensive knowledge of power generation, electrical distribution, and major components.

* At least 3 years’ experience in assembly, refurbishment, and testing.

* Thorough understanding of operation and testing.

* Experience in planned and reactive maintenance, scheduling major servicing, and minor refurbishment programs.

* Experience working within ISO 9001 environments and understanding ISO 14000 and ISO 18000 compliance. Knowledge of Lean Engineering & Quality Inspection techniques.

* Literate in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, SharePoint, Outlook).

* Eligible for relevant Security Clearances and holds a full driving licence including C+E.
