Summary We’re looking for a skilled Mechanical Maintenance Technician to join a growing energy infrastructure project in Avonmouth. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role on a COMAH-regulated site during phase two of an exciting development. If you have experience in mechanical maintenance and thrive on solving technical problems, this role offers a chance to work on major rotating equipment in a dynamic industrial environment.
Salary Paying up to £45,250 per annum.
Location and Working Pattern Based on-site at Avonmouth. Full-time, 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
Responsibilities Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and fault diagnosis on large generators and turbines. Operate and maintain site equipment safely using a Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS). Troubleshoot mechanical issues and repair faulty equipment using industry-standard tools and techniques. Liaise with operations teams to identify improvement strategies for equipment reliability. Supervise external contractors when needed and maintain high standards of work quality. Prepare accurate maintenance reports and technical documentation. Manage parts inventory and ensure timely replacement of critical components. Adhere to strict health, safety and compliance standards at all times.Must-have Requirements Recognised mechanical apprenticeship and NVQ Level 3 qualification (minimum), with at least 5 years’ post-apprenticeship experience. Strong mechanical maintenance background, ideally with rotating equipment experience. COMAH site experience. Excellent fault-finding and problem-solving skills. Ability to interpret P&IDs (Process & Instrumentation Diagrams). Skilled in the use of maintenance systems (CMMS) and understanding of work permits. Strong IT literacy, including Microsoft Excel and Office tools.Nice-to-have Skills Working knowledge of condition monitoring and lubrication best practice. Experience in industrial process plants (oil, gas or chemicals) desirable but not essential. Progression towards HNC or NVQ Level 4.
