Mechanical Pre-Contracts / Design Manager

Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Pre-contracts Manager to oversee the mechanical and public health services packages at the pre-construction stage. This role is ideal for professionals heavily involved in design who are looking to transition into a commercial/estimating position. The successful candidate will manage client relationships and internal processes within the mechanical team, promoting positive cultures and behaviours.

Key Responsibilities:

Design and Scope Creation

Stage 2 & 3:

Develop initial project designs and define project scopes.
Stage 4 & 5:

Produce or oversee detailed designs for projects, depending on size (small CAT B projects or larger projects with design support).
Budgeting and Costing

Create budgets using a schedule of rates.
Produce fixed costs aligned with the project scope and design.
Client and Landlord Assistance

Provide necessary information through RFI schedules and trackers.
Project Surveying and Reporting

Conduct project surveys and produce detailed reports as required.
Technical Support and Validation

Organize validations and support project managers with technical aspects of reports.
Drawing Management

Mark up, manage, and review mechanical and public health drawings before issuance.
Coordination and Handover

Coordinate with all other disciplines and internal departments to ensure project alignment.
Hand over the project to the construction team and provide occasional support for discoverables or design changes.

Requirements

Experience:

Minimum of 5 years in a similar position.
Technical Skills:

Strong mechanical and public health services design capabilities.
Excellent understanding of costing, budgeting, and the mechanical and PH services D&B process.
Proficiency in MS Office and PDF editors (Bluebeam preferred).

Personal Attributes:

Demonstrated ability to manage client relationships and internal team processes.
Strong coordination and communication skills.
Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and quality.
