We are seeking an experienced and driven Mechanical Project Manager to take full operational and commercial ownership of multiple concurrent mechanical projects across the North East. Based from our Newcastle office, you will oversee a varied portfolio of commercial, industrial, and public sector mechanical installations, plant upgrades, and HVAC capital works.
This is a dynamic role suited for a strategic thinker who can successfully manage client relationships, drive projects from initial design and procurement through to final commissioning, and juggle multiple fast-paced sites simultaneously.
Key Responsibilities ● Multi-Project Management: Simultaneously lead, plan, and deliver multiple mechanical engineering projects, ensuring all deliverables are met on time, within budget, and to the highest standard.
● Commercial & Financial Control: Manage project budgets, forecasting, variations, applications for payment, and final accounts, working closely with the commercial team to maximize profitability.
● Procurement & Resource Allocation: Oversee the procurement of specialist mechanical plant, equipment, and materials, while effectively scheduling internal engineers and sub-contractors across various sites.
● H&S Leadership: Champion site safety by ensuring robust implementation of RAMS (Risk Assessments and Method Statements), CDM regulations, and health and safety audits across all active projects.
● Design & Technical Oversight: Review technical drawings, specifications, and Bills of Materials (BOMs), collaborating with engineering teams to resolve complex design or site challenges.
● Client & Stakeholder Management: Act as the primary point of contact for clients, main contractors, and consultants, chairing progress meetings and maintaining exceptional working relationships.
Candidate Requirements ● Experience: Proven track record managing multiple mechanical engineering or HVAC projects concurrently within a construction, industrial, or FM environment.
● Qualifications: Relevant qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services, or a related trade background (HNC/HND/Degree or time-served mechanical pedigree).
● Commercial Acumen: Strong financial awareness, contract administration experience (e.g., JCT / NEC), and a proven ability to manage project variations.
● Driving Licence: Full UK driving licence.
